Launched in France the 25th of October 2004, PinkTV pioneers the idea of a 24 hours a day, 7/7 gay-centric television.
Mission statement :
PinkTV is the first gay and gay friendly TV station targeting gays, girls and boys and all people who are interested in a different TV station, based on freedom, tolerance, fun and seduction.

- TF1 Publicité is responsible for the advertising sales.
- Canal + Group is a specific editorial partner
- LAGARDERE ACTIVE - PLURIMEDIA administers the interactivity on and off air.
- M6 Group: M6 Interaction heads the development of the brand PinkTV off air through by-products.

Administrative autorisation of the Conseil Supérieur de l’Audiovisuel (French Television Commission) :
Pink TV was granted the right to broadcast on April 16. 2003. The final technical agreement from the CSA was received December 2003.
Through a 5 years period, PinkTV has to broadcast:
- at least 60% of European programs
- 40% of French programs.
- 60% of European movies
- 40% of French movies
Over a 4-year-period, 18.8% of PinkTV’s turnover has to be dedicated to the developement of european or French productions.
Over a 4-year-period, 4.7% of PinkTV’s turnover has to be dedicated to the development of European movies (at least 3. 7% of original French production).
PinkTV has to respect its obligations in matters of information and meet the CSA compliance requirements regarding the broadcasting of pornographic movies. PinkTV cannot broadcast more than 208 of such programs a year.

PinkTV is the first general interest TV station dedicated to gay and gay friendly people’s interests. PinkTV has an eclectic programming.
PinkTV, in a nutshell :
PAY TV, PinkTV is broadcast by every major cable , satellite and DSL network in France (CanalSat, TPS, Noos, UPC, Numericable, Freebox TV, Neuf Telecom. EstVideo.com and FranceCitéVision), as a stand alone ( 9 € /month - 11 USD) or soon in a package.
In Belgium, PinkTV is broadcast on BeTV (former Canal+ Belgium) and on Coditel as a stand alone (10€/month – 13 USD)
In Luxembourg, PinkTV is broadcast by Coditel as a stand alone (10€/month – 13 USD).
In Switzerland, PinkTV is broadcast on Naxoo as a stand alone (17 CHF) and in the "Tendances" package (25 CHF).
Broadcast 24/7 : 35 hours of « fresh » programs/week, 5 reruns (except movies) - First broadcast 7pm till 2am.
